Kiyotake, Miyazaki

Kiyotake is a district located in the southern portion of Miyazaki City, the capital of Miyazaki Prefecture, Japan. Formerly an independent town within the Miyazaki District, it was incorporated into the city of Miyazaki on March 23, 2010.

Historically, Kiyotake developed as a suburban residential and agricultural area. Following its merger into the larger municipality, it has remained a significant regional center for education and healthcare. The district is home to the Kiyotake Campus of the University of Miyazaki, which houses the Faculty of Medicine and the University of Miyazaki Hospital. This institution is a primary provider of tertiary medical care for the prefecture.

The geography of the area is characterized by its location on the Miyazaki Plain and its proximity to the Kiyotake River. In terms of transportation infrastructure, the district is served by the JR Kyushu Nippo Main Line, with rail access provided via Kiyotake Station and Hyƫga-Kutsukake Station. The Miyazaki Expressway also passes through the district, connecting it to the broader regional road network of Kyushu.

As of the 2010 merger, the town of Kiyotake had an estimated population of approximately 28,000 people. Since the administrative change, the area is officially designated as part of Miyazaki City but retains its name for address and geographical identification purposes.
