Kibimba is one of the eleven communes in Gitega Province, Burundi. It is situated in the central region of the country, approximately 20 kilometers northwest of Gitega, the provincial capital and former political capital of Burundi.
As an administrative division, Kibimba commune encompasses several smaller collines (hills), which are the lowest level of administrative division in Burundi. The area is predominantly rural, with the economy largely based on subsistence agriculture, like much of the Burundian countryside.
Kibimba gained some international recognition in the late 20th century due to its association with events during periods of ethnic conflict in Burundi, particularly as a site for displaced persons and humanitarian efforts. Educational institutions, such as the Kibimba Teachers' College, also contribute to the local community.
