Club Career Iqbal is most closely associated with Abahani Krira Chakra (now Abahani Limited Dhaka), one of the most successful and popular football clubs in Bangladesh. During his tenure at the club, he was a key contributor to several Dhaka League titles. Known for his technical skills, speed, and crossing ability, he was considered one of the premier wingers in the domestic circuit. He also had a professional stint with Brothers Union, another prominent club in Dhaka.
International Career Iqbal represented the Bangladesh national team in various international competitions throughout the 1980s. He was a member of the squad that participated in the 1980 AFC Asian Cup in Kuwait, which remains the only time Bangladesh has qualified for the final tournament of the continental championship.
He also featured prominently in the South Asian Federation (SAF) Games. He was part of the national teams that secured silver medals in the 1984 and 1985 editions of the games.
