Kfar Warburg (Hebrew: כְּפַר וַרְבּוּרְג, lit. “Warburg Village”) is a moshav in the southern district of Israel. It is situated in south‑central Israel, near the city of Kiryat Malakhi, and falls under the jurisdiction of the Be'er Tuvia Regional Council. The moshav occupies approximately 6,000 dunams (about 6 km²) and comprises 98 individual farms.
History
Kfar Warburg was founded on 31 October 1939 by members of the “Menachem” organization, a group of experienced agricultural laborers. The settlement was named in honor of Felix M. Warburg, a prominent leader of the American Jewish community and a founder of the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (JDC). During the early 1950s, the population of the moshav roughly doubled, prompting the construction of a cultural hall with an 880‑seat auditorium that hosted regular performances by the Habima and Cameri theatres.
Demographics
According to the Israel Central Bureau of Statistics, Kfar Warburg had a population of 1,199 residents in 2024. The community is primarily agricultural, with many families operating farms that produce a variety of crops and livestock.
Economy and Infrastructure
The moshav’s economy is based on mixed agriculture, including field crops, orchards, and animal husbandry. Its proximity to larger towns such as Kiryat Malakhi provides residents with access to broader markets and services. The moshav maintains its own local council and community facilities, including the aforementioned cultural hall.
