The Kent Ambulance Service was a National Health Service (NHS) trust responsible for providing emergency medical services and non-emergency patient transport within the county of Kent, England. It functioned as the primary provider of pre-hospital care and emergency medical response for the region’s population.
On July 1, 2006, the Kent Ambulance Service ceased to exist as an independent entity following a strategic reorganization of ambulance services across England. As part of this restructuring, it merged with the Surrey Ambulance Service and the Sussex Ambulance Service to form the South East Coast Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SECAmb).
During its period of operation, the service maintained a network of ambulance stations and managed a fleet of emergency vehicles, including rapid response cars and dual-crew ambulances. Its operations were overseen by the Department of Health and focused on meeting national response time targets for life-threatening emergencies. Following the merger, all assets, personnel, and operational responsibilities were transferred to the newly established regional trust.
