Kees Bol

Kees Bol (born July 21, 1916, Oegstgeest, Netherlands; died December 9, 2009, Leiden, Netherlands) was a Dutch painter and art educator. Primarily known for his landscapes and still lifes, Bol's work often depicted the Dutch countryside and common objects with a focus on light and atmosphere.

Bol studied at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague. He was a member of the Pulchri Studio, a prominent artist society in The Hague, and exhibited his work extensively throughout the Netherlands. He also taught at the Vrije Academie in The Hague, influencing a generation of artists. His paintings are held in numerous private and public collections in the Netherlands and abroad. While his style remained relatively consistent throughout his career, evolving subtly rather than drastically, he is considered a significant figure in 20th-century Dutch realist painting.
