Karakışla is a village in the Ulus District of Bartın Province, Turkey. It is a small rural settlement located in the northern part of Turkey, near the Black Sea coast.
Location and Geography
The village is situated at coordinates 41°30′57″N 32°40′35″E, in the interior of Bartın Province, approximately 30–40 kilometers south of the Black Sea coast. The area is characterized by hilly terrain and forested landscapes typical of the Western Black Sea region of Turkey.
Administrative Status
Karakışla is administratively part of the Ulus District, which is one of the districts of Bartın Province. The village is governed under the Turkish muhtarlık (village headman) system.
Demographics
As of 2021, the population of Karakışla was recorded as 90 residents. Like many rural villages in the region, its population has likely experienced fluctuations over time due to migration to urban centers.
Etymology
The name "Karakışla" is of Turkish origin. "Kara" means "black" or "dark" in Turkish, and "kışla" means "barracks" or "winter quarters." The name may historically refer to a military winter station or a dark-colored barracks in the area.
