Kane Thompson (born 10 February 1990) is a former professional rugby league footballer who played as a second-row or lock forward. He spent the majority of his career in Australia's National Rugby League (NRL) before a stint in the Super League in England.
Early Career and NRL Stint Thompson began his professional career with the Gold Coast Titans, making his NRL debut in 2012. Known for his robust playing style, strong carries, and defensive work rate, he quickly became a regular fixture in the Titans' forward pack. He remained with the Gold Coast club until the end of the 2014 season.
In 2015, Thompson joined the Newcastle Knights, where he continued to play in the NRL for two seasons. He consistently contributed to the team's efforts, showcasing his versatility and toughness in the middle and edge forward positions.
Super League Following his time in the NRL, Thompson moved to England to play in the Super League. He signed with the Leigh Centurions, where he continued to feature as a prominent forward before concluding his professional playing career at the top level.
Personal Life Thompson is of Māori descent. Throughout his career, he was regarded as a durable and hard-working forward, though he did not achieve international representative honours.
