Kane Farrell (born 17 March 1999) is a professional Australian rules footballer who plays for the Port Adelaide Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). He plays as a half-back flanker and wears the number 6 guernsey.
Early life and junior career
Farrell grew up in Castlemaine, Victoria, supporting the Geelong Cats as a child. He played junior football with the Winters Flat club from under-10s through under-15s, before progressing to the Castlemaine Football Club and the Bendigo Pioneers' under-15s, under-16s, and under-18s teams. He represented Vic Country at the 2017 AFL Under 18 Championships, averaging 14 possessions and three marks per game.
At the 2017 AFL Draft Combine, Farrell recorded the equal-best time of 8.10 seconds in the agility test and the second-best 20-metre sprint with a time of 2.90 seconds.
AFL career
Farrell was drafted by Port Adelaide with their second selection (pick 51 overall) in the 2017 AFL National Draft. He initially inherited the number 24 guernsey from Jarman Impey before later switching to number 6.
He made his AFL debut in round 19 of the 2018 season against the Western Bulldogs at Eureka Stadium (Mars Stadium), kicking one goal. Prior to his debut, he played 13 matches in the South Australian National Football League (SANFL), kicking 20 goals.
As of the end of round 20 of the 2026 season, Farrell has played 127 AFL games, scoring 51 goals. His career has included a notable progression in output, with his average disposals per game rising from 9.6 in his debut season to over 20 in the 2025 and 2026 seasons.
Personal life
Farrell's parents are Sue and Stephen Farrell. He has one brother, Brodie Filo, who is also an Australian rules footballer and has played across several state and regional leagues, including the AFL, Goulburn Valley Football League, Ovens & Murray Football Netball League, and the Northern Territory Football League. Filo has won multiple league best and fairest medals, including the Nichols Medal in the Northern Territory Football League on three occasions.
