Etymology / Origin
The community was platted in 1881 and named in honor of Judge J. M. Kamrar, a prominent local attorney who also served as an officer of the Chicago & Northwestern Railway Company. A statue commemorating Judge Kamrar stands in the town square. A post office has operated in Kamrar since 1882.
