Kai Correa is an American professional baseball coach who most recently served as the bench coach and interim manager for the San Francisco Giants of Major League Baseball (MLB). Born in Hilo, Hawaii, Correa attended the University of Puget Sound, where he played college baseball before transitioning into a coaching career.
Correa’s coaching background began at the collegiate level. He served as an assistant coach at the University of Puget Sound and later at the University of Northern Colorado. In 2018, he entered professional baseball when he was hired by the Cleveland Indians (now Guardians) organization to serve as an infield coordinator.
In December 2019, Correa joined the San Francisco Giants as the bench coach under manager Gabe Kapler. In this capacity, his responsibilities included overseeing team defense, particularly infield play, and coordinating spring training operations. On September 29, 2023, following the dismissal of Gabe Kapler, the Giants appointed Correa as the interim manager for the final three games of the regular season.
Following the conclusion of the 2023 season and the subsequent hiring of Bob Melvin as the new manager, the Giants announced that Correa would not return to the coaching staff for the 2024 season. During his tenure in MLB, Correa was recognized for his focus on defensive analytics and fundamental infield instruction.
