K-34 is a state highway in the U.S. state of Kansas. Located entirely within Harper County, it functions as a short north-south connector route in the south-central region of the state, primarily serving the area around the city of Anthony. The highway has an approximate length of 10.3 miles (16.6 km).
Route Description
K-34 begins at its southern terminus at an intersection with U.S. Route 160 (US-160) southwest of Anthony. From this point, the route proceeds directly northward, traversing predominantly agricultural land. It passes near the western edge of the city of Anthony, providing access to the community, though it does not typically run through the city's central developed areas. Continuing its straight north-south alignment, K-34 maintains a rural character until it reaches its northern terminus at an intersection with Kansas Highway 2 (K-2) north of Anthony. The route is maintained by the Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT).
History
K-34 was established as a state highway by 1937. Its original alignment and purpose as a local connector route in Harper County have largely remained consistent since its designation. Like many state highways, it serves to link rural areas and smaller communities to the broader state and national highway networks.
