Kácov is a municipality and village located in the Příbram District within the Central Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic. As of the most recent census data available from the Czech Statistical Office (2021), the population of Kácov is approximately 1,800 inhabitants.
Geography
Kácov lies on the banks of the Vltava River, about 70 km southwest of Prague and roughly 20 km east of the district capital, Příbram. The area is characterized by a mix of agricultural land, forested hills, and riverine landscapes.
History
The earliest written mention of Kácov dates to 1315, when it was referenced in a royal deed concerning land holdings in the region. Throughout the Middle Ages, the settlement was part of various noble estates. In the 16th century, Kácov came under the ownership of the prominent Lobkowicz family, who commissioned the construction of the Baroque Kácov Castle. The village experienced modest industrial development during the 19th century, primarily related to milling and timber processing, owing to its location along the Vltava.

- Kácov Castle – A Baroque chateau built in the early 18th century, surrounded by a landscaped park. The castle has been used for cultural events and exhibitions, and portions of it are accessible to the public.
