Justus Hollatz (born 21 April 2001) is a German professional basketball player who plays as a point guard for FC Bayern Munich of the German Basketball Bundesliga (BBL) and the EuroLeague. He is also a member of the senior German national team.
Early Life and Background
Hollatz was born in the Langenbek district of Hamburg, Germany. He began playing basketball through a working group at Marmstorf elementary school, playing alongside his two older brothers Joshua and Jacob in the youth system of BG Harburg Hittfeld. He also played football and auditioned for the youth team of FC St. Pauli, but ultimately chose to focus on basketball.
Professional Career
Hamburg Towers (2018–2022)
Hollatz began his professional career with SC Rist Wedel in the 2. Bundesliga ProB during the 2017–18 season. For the 2018–19 season, he joined the Hamburg Towers in the 2. Bundesliga ProA, helping the team win the ProA championship and earn promotion to the Basketball Bundesliga (BBL). In the decisive championship game, he made a three-point shot with nine seconds remaining to secure the title. He signed a three-year contract with Hamburg in May 2019. Hollatz was named the BBL's Best Young Player (Best Youngster) for the 2020–21 and 2021–22 seasons.
CB Breogán (2022–2023)
For the 2022–23 season, Hollatz moved to CB Breogán in the Spanish Liga ACB. He appeared in 34 league games, averaging 7.9 points, 3.3 assists, and 2.1 rebounds per game.
Anadolu Efes (2023–2025)
In June 2023, Hollatz signed with KK Cedevita Olimpija but was immediately loaned to Anadolu Efes SK of the Turkish Süper Lig and the EuroLeague. He played 15 Turkish league games (averaging 6.7 points) and 35 EuroLeague games (averaging 1.8 points) across the 2023–24 and part of the 2024–25 seasons.
FC Bayern Munich (2025–present)
In January 2025, Hollatz signed a three-year contract with FC Bayern Munich. In June 2025, he won the German BBL championship with the team.
National Team Career
Hollatz made his senior debut for the German national team in February 2021 during a EuroBasket 2022 qualifier against Great Britain.
- EuroBasket 2022: Won a bronze medal with Germany, averaging 1.3 points and 2.8 assists per game.
- FIBA World Cup 2023: Won the gold medal as Germany went undefeated through the tournament. Hollatz appeared in six games, averaging 2 points per game.
- EuroBasket 2025: Won the gold medal with Germany, averaging 2.3 points, 1.6 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game.
Hollatz was cut from the German roster shortly before the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.
