Justin Madden (born 17 January 1972) is an Australian former professional Australian rules footballer and former politician. He played in the Australian Football League (AFL) primarily for the Essendon Football Club from 1990 to 2002, serving as a ruckman and occasionally as a key forward. Over his football career, Madden participated in 138 senior games and scored 123 goals.
After retiring from professional sport, Madden entered politics as a member of the Australian Labor Party (ALP). He was elected to the Victorian Legislative Council representing the Western Metropolitan Region in 2010 and served until 2022. During his tenure, he held ministerial portfolios, including Minister for Sport, Minister for Youth, and Minister for Housing and Disability Services.
Madden holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Melbourne and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Adelaide. He has been involved in various community and charitable activities, particularly those related to sport development and youth engagement.
