Jushan, Lorestan

Jushan (Persian: جوشن, also Romanized as Jowshan) is a village located in the Zaz-e Sharqi Rural District, Zaz va Mahru District, Aligudarz County, Lorestan Province, Iran. As a small rural settlement, it is characteristic of the numerous villages found throughout the mountainous Lorestan region.

Geography Jushan is situated in the eastern part of Lorestan Province, one of the 31 provinces of Iran. Lorestan is a predominantly mountainous area, forming part of the Zagros Mountain range in western Iran. The terrain surrounding Jushan typically consists of hills and valleys, supporting a landscape common to the high-altitude regions of the Zagros. The village's specific location within Aligudarz County places it in a region known for its natural beauty and traditional agricultural and pastoral activities.

Demographics According to the 2006 National Census, the population of Jushan was 135 individuals, residing in 20 families. Like many communities in Lorestan Province, the inhabitants of Jushan are primarily ethnic Lurs, speaking the Lori dialect, and adhering to Shia Islam. Population figures for rural areas often fluctuate due to migration patterns and changes in economic opportunities.

Administration Administratively, Jushan is part of a multi-tiered system typical of Iranian rural areas. It belongs to the Zaz-e Sharqi Rural District (دهستان زاز شرقی), which is further nested within the Zaz va Mahru District (بخش زاز و ماهرو). Both of these districts are components of Aligudarz County (شهرستان الیگودرز), one of the largest counties in Lorestan Province. The provincial capital of Lorestan is Khorramabad.
