Julia Carter Aldrich

Julia Carter Aldrich (née Carter; pen name Petresia Peters; January 28, 1834 – August 26, 1924) was a 19th-century American author and editor. Born in Liverpool, Ohio, she was the fifth child in a family of seven. Her paternal ancestors were New Englanders of English stock, while her mother's parents, born and raised in Richmond, Virginia, were of Scotch and German descent.

Aldrich began writing at a young age and gained recognition for her literary contributions. She served as the vice-president of the Western Association of Writers for the state of Ohio. Additionally, she was one of the editors of The National Grange, a publication that connected readers across the United States. She also contributed to hymnody and poetry, with works published under both her own name and her pseudonym, Petresia Peters.

She married Joseph Aldrich in 1854. The couple resided at their home, "Maple Grove," in Wauseon, Ohio, during the late 19th century. Julia Carter Aldrich died on August 26, 1924, in Wauseon. She was named an ancestor of Rev. Ms. Julia Carter Aldrich (1930–2020), a minister who shared her name and legacy.
