Judy Streatch

Judy Streatch (born October 9, 1948) is a Canadian politician from Nova Scotia. She served as a Progressive Conservative member of the Nova Scotia House of Assembly, representing the electoral district of Chester-St. Margaret's from 1999 to 2009. During her time in provincial politics, Streatch held several significant cabinet portfolios.

Early Life and Education Born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Judy Streatch attended Dalhousie University. Before entering politics, she was involved in various community activities and worked as an executive assistant.

Political Career Streatch was first elected to the Nova Scotia House of Assembly in the 1999 provincial election, representing the riding of Chester-St. Margaret's. She was successfully re-elected in the 2003 election.

During her tenure, Streatch served in numerous cabinet roles under Premier Rodney MacDonald:

  • Minister of Environment and Labour (2003–2006)
  • Minister of Education (2006–2009)
  • Minister of Health (January 10, 2009 – June 19, 2009)

As Minister of Education, she oversaw significant policy discussions and reforms within the province's educational system. Her brief period as Minister of Health came during the final months of the Progressive Conservative government.

Judy Streatch did not seek re-election in the 2009 provincial election, choosing to retire from provincial politics.

Personal Life Judy Streatch is married to John Streatch.
