Juan Agustín Pérez Alsina (born 8 March 1954) is an Argentine politician affiliated with the Salta Renewal Party (Partido Renovador de Salta, PRS). He served as a National Senator for Salta Province from 2007 to 2013, sitting in support of the majority block of the Front for Victory.
Early life and education
Pérez Alsina qualified as a lawyer from the Catholic University of Salta. He subsequently worked as a lawyer, lecturer, and legal adviser.
Political career
From 1989 to 1995, he served as a councillor in the city of Salta, and was president of the city council from 1991 to 1992. In 2006, he was named president of the convention of the Salta Renewal Party. The PRS underwent an acrimonious split in the 2000s, with Pérez Alsina representing the Kirchnerist wing that supported the government of President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner. In 2007, he was elected to the Argentine Senate on the PRS/Front for Victory list, representing Salta Province, and served until 2013.
