Josiane Balasko (born 15 April 1950) is a French actress, film director, screenwriter, and producer. She began her career in the late 1970s as a member of the comedic troupe Le Splendid, appearing in stage productions and the related film adaptations that helped define French comedy of the era. Balasko gained widespread recognition for her performances in films such as Les Bronzés (1978), Le Père Noël est une ordure (1982), and L'Algérie des hommes (2016).
In addition to acting, Balasko transitioned into directing and writing. She made her directorial debut with Sans laisse (2000) and has since directed several feature films, including Une aventure très privée (2003) and Pupille (2022). Her work often blends comedic elements with social commentary.
Balasko has received multiple honors for her contributions to French cinema, including nominations for the César Award for Best Actress and a César Award for Best Supporting Actress. She continues to be active in film, television, and theater, maintaining a presence in the French entertainment industry.
