Joseph Kugler

Joseph J. Kugler (November 23, 1928 – January 13, 1999) was an American politician and public servant from New York who represented parts of the Bronx in the New York State Assembly. A Democrat, he also held significant administrative positions within the Bronx County court system.

Early Life and Education

Joseph Kugler was born on November 23, 1928, in New York City. He served in the United States Army from 1951 to 1953. After his military service, he pursued higher education, earning an LLB from St. John's University Law School in 1957.

Political Career

Kugler began his political career as a member of the Democratic Party in the Bronx. In 1968, he was elected to the New York State Assembly, representing the 85th Assembly District. He assumed office in January 1969 and served four consecutive terms, remaining in the Assembly until the end of 1972. During his time as an Assemblyman, Kugler focused on issues affecting his Bronx constituency and contributed to state legislative processes.

Later Career and Public Service

After leaving the New York State Assembly, Kugler continued his career in public service within the judiciary of Bronx County. In 1973, he was appointed Chief Clerk of the Bronx County Surrogate's Court, a position he held for several years. He later became Chief Clerk of the Bronx County Civil Court in 1980, serving in that capacity until his retirement.

Personal Life

Joseph Kugler was married to Carol Kugler, and they had children. He lived in the Bronx for the majority of his life.

Death

Joseph Kugler died on January 13, 1999, in New York City, at the age of 70.
