Jorge Alberto Reyes (born August 3, 1987) is a Mexican former professional baseball pitcher. A right-handed thrower, Reyes played in the minor league systems of Major League Baseball organizations, independent leagues, and the Mexican League, and represented Mexico internationally.
Early Life and Amateur Career Born in Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico, Reyes attended San Ysidro High School in San Ysidro, California, before playing college baseball at San Diego State University. During his collegiate career, he developed into a prominent pitcher for the Aztecs.
Professional Career Reyes was drafted by his hometown team, the San Diego Padres, in the 22nd round of the 2008 Major League Baseball Draft. He began his professional career within the Padres' farm system, progressing through various levels. He spent time with the Rookie-level Arizona League Padres (2008), Class-A Fort Wayne TinCaps (2009), Class-A Advanced Lake Elsinore Storm (2010), and reached the Triple-A level with the Tucson Padres in 2011.
After his time with the Padres organization, Reyes continued his career in independent baseball, playing for teams in leagues such as the American Association and the Atlantic League. He also became a fixture in the Liga Mexicana de Béisbol (Mexican League), playing for multiple clubs including the Rojos del Águila de Veracruz, Olmecas de Tabasco, and Pericos de Puebla.
International Career Reyes has represented the Mexican national baseball team in several international tournaments. Notably, he was a member of Team Mexico for the World Baseball Classic in both 2013 and 2017, contributing as a pitcher on the national stage.
