Jon Gordon (musician)

Jon Gordon (born 1966) is an American jazz saxophonist, composer, and educator. He is known for his lyrical and inventive improvisational style, influenced by jazz masters such as Lee Konitz, Warne Marsh, and Lennie Tristano.

Gordon began playing saxophone at a young age and studied at the Manhattan School of Music. He has released several albums as a leader, showcasing his talents as both a saxophonist and composer. His recordings often feature original compositions as well as interpretations of classic jazz standards.

In addition to his performance career, Gordon is a respected educator, teaching at various institutions, including the University of Manitoba, and conducting workshops and clinics. He is actively involved in sharing his knowledge and passion for jazz music with aspiring musicians. He has received grants from the National Endowment for the Arts. Gordon primarily plays alto saxophone, but also plays soprano.
