Johnny W. Floyd (1905 – 1979) was an American football player and coach. He is most commonly referenced in sports history under the name Johnny Floyd. Floyd played college football as a quarterback at the University of Tennessee, where he earned All‑Southern honors. Following his playing career, he served as a head coach at several institutions, including the University of Tennessee at Martin (then known as the University of Tennessee Junior College), the University of Louisville, and the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. His coaching tenure spanned the 1930s through the 1950s, during which he compiled a cumulative collegiate record that reflected both competitive successes and periods of rebuilding.
Floyd was inducted into the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame, recognizing his contributions to the sport within the state. His legacy is noted for advancing football programs at smaller colleges and for his role in mentoring players who later achieved professional careers.
