John Lindsay (footballer, born 1862)

John Lindsay (born 1862, date of death unknown) was a Scottish footballer who played as a right-back.

Lindsay played club football for Renton, a prominent team in the early years of Scottish football. He was a member of the Renton team that won the Scottish Cup in 1885, defeating Vale of Leven 3-1 in the final. He also played in the Renton side that were declared "World Champions" in 1888 after defeating West Bromwich Albion.

Little further information is readily available about Lindsay's career or personal life beyond his involvement with Renton. His career likely ended sometime in the early 1890s, with the professionalisation of football.
