John Hope-Johnstone (1796–1876)

John Hope-Johnstone (1796–1876) was a Scottish politician and landowner. He served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Dumfriesshire from 1830 to 1832, and again from 1847 to 1865. He was a Conservative in politics. He inherited the Annandale estates from his father, also named John Hope-Johnstone, in 1830. He was a prominent figure in Dumfriesshire affairs and known for his involvement in local agricultural societies and other public bodies. He married Alicia Gordon in 1816 and they had several children.
