John Stephen Hodgdon (November 22, 1901 – February 26, 1983) was an American professional [[American football]] [[Halfback]] who played in the [[National Football League (NFL)]] for five seasons. He spent three seasons with the [[Providence Steam Roller]] and two seasons with the [[New York Giants]].
Early Life and College Career
Born in Springfield, Massachusetts, Hodgdon attended [[Boston University]], where he played college football for the [[Boston University Terriers]]. He excelled as a collegiate athlete before embarking on his professional career.Professional Career
Hodgdon began his professional football career in 1925, joining the [[Providence Steam Roller]], one of the prominent teams in the early NFL. He played for the Steam Roller as a halfback from 1925 to 1927. His tenure with Providence saw him contribute significantly to their backfield offense.In 1928, Hodgdon moved to the [[New York Giants]], where he continued to play as a halfback for two seasons (1928–1929). During his time with the Giants, he was a part of the team that finished second in the league in 1928. His five-season NFL career spanned an era when professional football was still establishing its roots and growing in popularity.
