John Hodgdon

John Stephen Hodgdon (November 22, 1901 – February 26, 1983) was an American professional [[American football]] [[Halfback]] who played in the [[National Football League (NFL)]] for five seasons. He spent three seasons with the [[Providence Steam Roller]] and two seasons with the [[New York Giants]].

Early Life and College Career

Born in Springfield, Massachusetts, Hodgdon attended [[Boston University]], where he played college football for the [[Boston University Terriers]]. He excelled as a collegiate athlete before embarking on his professional career.

Professional Career

Hodgdon began his professional football career in 1925, joining the [[Providence Steam Roller]], one of the prominent teams in the early NFL. He played for the Steam Roller as a halfback from 1925 to 1927. His tenure with Providence saw him contribute significantly to their backfield offense.

In 1928, Hodgdon moved to the [[New York Giants]], where he continued to play as a halfback for two seasons (1928–1929). During his time with the Giants, he was a part of the team that finished second in the league in 1928. His five-season NFL career spanned an era when professional football was still establishing its roots and growing in popularity.

Later Life

After retiring from professional football, Hodgdon lived until the age of 81. He passed away on February 26, 1983.
