Joey Image

Joey Image (born Joey Poole; March 5, 1957 – June 1, 2020) was an American punk rock musician, best known as the drummer for the horror punk band Misfits during their early career.

Image joined the Misfits in late 1978, replacing previous drummer Jim Catania. During his tenure, he contributed to two of the band's most significant early recordings: the Horror Business EP and the Night of the Living Dead single, both released in 1979. His technical style was characterized by the high-tempo, driving rhythms that became a hallmark of the early American hardcore and horror punk movements.

His association with the Misfits ended abruptly in late 1979 during the band's first tour of the United Kingdom. Following a series of interpersonal conflicts and the cancellation of several tour dates, Image left the group and returned to the United States. He was briefly replaced by Arthur Googy.

Following his departure from the Misfits, Image played in several other musical projects, including the Whorelords and Human Waste Project. He also had a brief stint with the Undead, a band led by former Misfits guitarist Bobby Steele. In the later years of his life, he remained active in the punk scene and occasionally participated in interviews regarding the early history of the Misfits.

Joey Image died on June 1, 2020, at the age of 63. His death was attributed to complications arising from liver cancer, a condition he had been diagnosed with several years prior.
