Joseph "Joe" Canning (born 11 October 1988) is an Irish hurler who played as a forward for the Galway senior inter-county team from 2008 to 2021. He also continues to play club hurling with Portumna. Widely regarded as one of the greatest hurlers of all time, Canning is celebrated for his exceptional skill, powerful striking, and prolific scoring ability, particularly from frees and sideline cuts.
Early Life and Club Career Born in Portumna, County Galway, Canning comes from a family deeply involved in hurling.
