Joaquín Paz

Joaquín Paz (born 25 October 1993) is an Argentine professional rugby union player who primarily plays as a centre, though he is also capable of playing at fly-half. He has represented Argentina at various levels, including the senior national team, the Pumas.

Early life and club career

Paz began his rugby career at Córdoba Athletic Club in his native Argentina, where he quickly rose through the ranks due to his skill and versatility. His performances for his provincial side earned him recognition at the national level.

In 2016, Paz joined French Pro D2 side Stade Aurillacois Cantal Auvergne. He spent two seasons with Aurillac before moving to another Pro D2 club, RC Vannes, for the 2018-2019 season. After a successful stint with Vannes, he signed with Biarritz Olympique, where he continued to play in the Pro D2 and also experienced promotion to the Top 14, the top tier of French rugby.

International career

Paz has had an extensive international career representing Argentina at multiple levels.

  • Argentina U20: He was part of the Argentina U20 squad that competed in the IRB Junior World Championship.
  • Argentina Sevens: He briefly featured for the Argentina national rugby sevens team.
  • Argentina XV: Paz was a regular fixture for Argentina XV, the country's secondary national team, participating in competitions such as the Americas Rugby Championship.
  • Pumas: His strong performances led to his selection for the senior Argentine national team, the Pumas. He earned several caps, playing in the Rugby Championship and other international fixtures. His debut for the Pumas was a significant milestone in his career, showcasing his ability to compete at the highest level of international rugby.
