Joan Lefkow is an American jurist who serves as a United States District Judge for the Northern District of Illinois.

Born in 1950, Joan Lefkow received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Northwestern University and earned a Juris Doctor from Northwestern University School of Law in 1975. After completing her legal education, she worked in private practice before being appointed a United States Bankruptcy Judge for the Northern District of Illinois in 1995. President Bill Clinton nominated her to the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois in 1997, and she received her commission on December 30, 1997. Judge Lefkow has presided over a wide range of civil and criminal matters, including high‑profile cases involving antitrust law, securities fraud, and civil rights.
