Jim Pearson (born 3 February 1953) is a Scottish former professional footballer and sports executive. He played as a forward primarily for Scottish clubs during the 1970s and early 1980s, and later held senior administrative positions within Scottish football.
Early life and playing career
Born in Glasgow, Scotland, Pearson began his senior football career with St Mirren in 1971. He transferred to Aberdeen in 1975, where he contributed to the club’s domestic successes, including a Scottish League Cup victory in 1976. Pearson later played for clubs such as Dundee United and Motherwell before retiring from professional play in 1984.
Post‑playing career
Following retirement, Pearson moved into football administration. He served as a director for Aberdeen FC and subsequently held executive roles with the Scottish Football Association. In 2012, he was appointed Chief Executive Officer of the Scottish Professional Football League (SPFL), overseeing the organization of the country's top four football divisions. Pearson stepped down from the SPFL role in 2020.
