Jiangcheng (Chinese: 江城; pinyin: Jiāngchéng; Jyutping: gong1sing4) is a district of Yangjiang, Guangdong province, China. It serves as the administrative seat of Yangjiang City, housing the Yangjiang Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China and the Yangjiang Municipal People's Government.
Geography
Jiangcheng District is located in the southern part of Yangjiang City, between 21°39'35″ N and 21°57'27″ N, and 111°47'12″ E and 112°03'12″ E. It borders Yangdong District to the east and north, adjoins Yangchun City to the northwest, connects with Yangxi County to the west, and faces the South China Sea to the south. The district covers a total area of 434.38 km² (167.8 sq mi). The main river flowing through the district is the Moyang River.
Climate
Jiangcheng District has a subtropical maritime monsoon climate, with long hours of sunshine, abundant heat, plentiful rainfall, and a long frost-free period. The average annual sunshine duration is 1,926 hours, and the frost-free period exceeds 350 days.
History
During the Spring and Autumn Period, the area was part of the Baiyue region. In 214 BC, after the Qin dynasty pacified the Baiyue, it became part of Nanhai Commandery. In 617 AD (Sui dynasty), Gaoliang County was renamed Yangjiang County. In January 1988, Yangjiang County was abolished to establish the prefecture-level Yangjiang City, and in April of the same year, Jiangcheng District was formally established.

Demographics
According to the seventh national population census (2020), the resident population of Jiangcheng District was 673,984. As of the end of 2023, the registered population was 526,700, with a natural population growth rate of 0.8‰.
Economy
In 2025, Jiangcheng District achieved a Gross Regional Product (GRP) of 38.631 billion yuan (approx. US$5.3 billion), representing a year-on-year increase of 3.3%. The industrial structure was 7.7% primary industry, 21.0% secondary industry, and 71.3% tertiary industry. The per capita GRP was 56,600 yuan.
Transportation
Major transportation routes passing through Jiangcheng District include the Guangzhou-Zhanjiang Expressway, West Coastal Expressway, Yunyang Expressway, National Highway 325, and the Yangyang Railway.
Culture and Tourism
The local dialect is the Yangjiang dialect. Notable cultural heritage includes the Yangjiang Lacquerware Decoration Technique, which is recognized as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage. Scenic attractions include Hailing Island (with the Dajiao Bay & Maritime Silk Road Tourism Area), Yuanyang Lake Park, Moyang Lake Park, the Nan'en Road Historical and Cultural District, the Taifu Road Historical and Cultural District, Jinshan Forest Park, and the Beishan Stone Pagoda (a Southern Song dynasty pagoda).
Local Specialties
Jiangcheng District is known for Yangjiang Fermented Black Beans (a Chinese Geographical Indication product), Yangjiang Ginger Fermented Black Beans, and the Yangjiang Yellow Mane Goose.
Government
As of July 2025, the District Party Committee Secretary is Li Shipeng, and the District Chief is Wu Wei.
