Jerry Wainwright (born August 26, 1948) is an American former college basketball coach. He is noted for his tenures as head coach at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte (1985–1996), DePaul University (1996–2002), and the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (2005–2011).

DePaul University
In 1996, Wainwright became the head coach of the DePaul Blue Demons. During his six-year tenure, the program struggled to achieve consistent success, culminating in a cumulative record of 70–106. He was dismissed from the position in March 2002.
University of North Carolina at Greensboro
Wainwright returned to head coaching in 2005 at UNC Greensboro. He guided the Spartans to four consecutive Southern Conference regular‑season titles from 2008 to 2011. Under his leadership, the team made an appearance in the 2010 College Basketball Invitational. He resigned in March 2011 after a 55–106 record over six seasons.
