Jenny Boyd

Helen Mary "Jenny" Boyd (born 1 November 1947) is an English former model, author, and former clinical manager who was notably a muse for several 1960s and 1970s rock musicians. She is the younger sister of the photographer and model Pattie Boyd and was married twice to Fleetwood Mac co‑founder Mick Fleetwood.

Early life and family
Jenny Boyd was born in Guildford, Surrey, England, to Diana Frances Boyd (née Drysdale) and pilot Colin “Jock” Ian Langdon Boyd. Growing up in a family involved in the fashion and music scenes, she accompanied her sister Pattie on modelling assignments and became acquainted with prominent musicians through Pattie’s relationship with George Harrison of the Beatles.

Modelling career
In the early 1960s, Boyd worked as a freelance model, often appearing alongside her sister. She participated in the Beatles’ short‑lived retail venture, the Apple Boutique, in London and, in 1968, co‑opened a boutique in Chelsea Market called “Jennifer Juniper,” named after Donovan’s song that she inspired. By the late 1960s, she had decided to leave modelling, describing it as “a waste of her time,” after becoming involved with Transcendental Meditation.

Role as a rock muse
Boyd’s connections to the music world led her to inspire several songs. Donovan wrote “Jennifer Juniper” after meeting her, and Mick Fleetwood reportedly wrote songs for Fleetwood Mac about her, though the official writing credits were given to Fleetwood. She also co‑wrote two songs for Fleetwood Mac, albeit uncredited.

Education and later career
After moving to the United States, Boyd attended the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), where she earned a Ph.D. in psychology. She subsequently managed an addiction‑treatment centre in England and co‑authored the book Musicians in Tune (1992) with Holly George‑Warren, which surveys the creative processes of contemporary musicians. In 2020, she published her autobiography Jennifer Juniper: A Journey Beyond the Muse.

Personal life
Boyd met Mick Fleetwood when they were teenagers; they married in June 1970, had two daughters, divorced in 1976, remarried in 1977, and divorced again in 1978. She later married drummer Ian Wallace in 1984 (divorced) and, in 1997, married architect David Levitt.

Legacy
Jenny Boyd is remembered primarily for her association with the 1960s–70s rock scene, both as a muse and as a participant in the cultural milieu surrounding the Beatles, Fleetwood Mac, and other prominent musicians. Her later work in psychology and addiction treatment reflects a shift from her early public persona to a focus on mental‑health advocacy.
