Jeffrey Greer (March 8 1964 – July 15 2025) was an American politician who served as a Democratic member of the Kentucky House of Representatives, representing the 27th district, from January 1 2007 until January 1 2019.
Born in Battletown, Kentucky, Greer earned a Bachelor of Arts in business administration from Eastern Kentucky University. He entered politics by challenging incumbent Republican Representative Gerry Lynn in the 2006 election. Running unopposed in the Democratic primary, Greer won the general election with 5,888 votes (53.4%). He was subsequently re‑elected in 2008, 2010, 2012, 2014, and 2016, often running unopposed in the Democratic primaries and securing victories with vote shares ranging from 50.5 % to 53.4 % in the general elections.
During his tenure, Greer chaired the House Banking and Insurance Committee, where he played a role in legislative efforts such as raising the high school dropout age to 18. He was defeated in the 2018 general election by Republican challenger Nancy Tate, losing by six votes.
Greer died in Brandenburg, Kentucky, on July 15 2025 at the age of 61. His career is noted for over a decade of service to the constituents of Meade and Hardin counties within Kentucky’s 27th House district.
