Jeffrey Christopher Brigham (born June 24, 1992) is an American professional baseball pitcher. He has played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Tampa Bay Rays and the Miami Marlins.
Early life and amateur career
Brigham was born in Glendale, Arizona. He attended Cactus High School in Glendale, where he played baseball as a pitcher. He continued his baseball career at the University of Arizona, competing for the Arizona Wildcats baseball team.
Professional career
New York Yankees
The New York Yankees selected Brigham in the 15th round of the 2014 MLB Draft. He began his professional career in the Yankees' minor‑league system, pitching for teams such as the Gulf Coast Yankees (Rookie level) and the Charleston RiverDogs (Class A). Over the 2014–2017 seasons, Brigham progressed through the organization, reaching the Double‑A level with the Trenton Thunder.
Tampa Bay Rays
On July 31 2017, Brigham was part of a trade that sent him, along with prospects, to the Tampa Bay Rays in exchange for outfielder Evan Longoria. He continued to develop in the Rays’ farm system, appearing for the Montgomery Biscuits (Double‑A) and the Durham Bulls (Triple‑A). Brigham made his MLB debut on September 26 2019, pitching a scoreless inning for the Rays against the Boston Red Sox.
Miami Marlins
In November 2021, Brigham was claimed off waivers by the Miami Marlins. He began the 2022 season in the Marlins’ bullpen, making appearances in both starting and relief roles. As of the end of the 2023 season, Brigham has compiled a career MLB win–loss record of 4–5, an earned run average (ERA) of approximately 4.70, and has recorded over 70 strikeouts.
