Jean Cochard (born October 10, 1924 – died February 13, 2007) was a French professional footballer who played as a defender. He was active primarily in the French first and second divisions during the post-World War II period.
Career
Jean Cochard began his football journey before World War II, playing for Red Star FC at an amateur level. Following the war, he turned professional, joining Stade Rennais in 1945. During his five seasons with Rennes (1945–1950), he was a consistent presence in the defense, making 120 appearances and scoring 2 goals in the top division of French football.In 1950, Cochard transferred to Angers SCO, where he played for one season, accumulating 27 appearances. The following year, for the 1951–1952 season, he moved to FC Nantes, making 30 appearances for the club.
Towards the end of his playing career, Cochard took on a player-coach role at FC Bourges from 1952 to 1954, transitioning into coaching while still on the field.
