Jean Byrne (née Featherly; October 17, 1926 – August 9, 2015) was an American educator who served as the First Lady of New Jersey from 1974 to 1982 during the tenure of her then-husband, two-term Democratic Governor Brendan Byrne.
Early life and education: Born in Newark, New Jersey, and raised in West Orange. She earned a bachelor's degree from Bucknell University and a master's degree from New York University.
Career: She taught second grade at an elementary school in West Orange, but was required to leave her teaching position upon becoming pregnant with her first child in 1954 — a policy she later described as the "dark ages" in a 2013 interview.
Role as First Lady: As First Lady, Byrne focused on healthcare and education issues. She was a prominent advocate for research on Down syndrome, which affected one of her daughters. She hosted numerous dignitaries at Morven, the New Jersey governor's residence, including Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Philip, and Grace Kelly.
Personal life: She married Brendan Byrne in 1953; they had seven children and divorced in 1993. She died at age 88 from complications of babesiosis, a tick-borne illness, in Princeton, New Jersey.

Jean Byrne is an Irish meteorologist who served as a weather presenter for Ireland's national broadcaster RTÉ and worked at Met Éireann (the Irish Meteorological Service) for over 25 years.
Career: She first appeared on RTÉ screens as a weather forecaster in 1996. Prior to her broadcasting career, she studied mathematics at Trinity College Dublin and had originally considered pursuing medicine.
