Jean Achard (painter)

Jean Achard (1807-1884) was a French painter known primarily for his landscapes and seascapes. He was born in Marseille and studied under Jean-Antoine Constantin. Achard's work often depicted scenes along the French coast, particularly in Brittany and Normandy. He employed a Romantic style, characterized by dramatic skies, turbulent seas, and a strong sense of atmosphere. Achard exhibited regularly at the Paris Salon throughout his career. His paintings can be found in various museum collections, including those in Marseille and Rouen.
