Rodriguez has spent the majority of his career with Burnley, having also played for Southampton and West Bromwich Albion. He earned one cap for the England national team in 2013.
Early Life and Career Born in Burnley, Lancashire, Rodriguez joined his hometown club Burnley's academy at a young age. He progressed through the youth ranks, showcasing his potential as a goalscorer and dynamic attacker.
Club Career
Burnley Rodriguez made his senior debut for Burnley in 2007, initially gaining experience through loan spells at Stirling Albion and Oldham Athletic. He returned to Burnley and established himself as a key player, particularly during the 2011–12 season where he finished as the club's top scorer, attracting attention from Premier League clubs.
Southampton In 2012, Rodriguez moved to Premier League side Southampton for a reported fee. He enjoyed a successful spell with the Saints, forming a potent attacking partnership with other forwards. His impressive performances led to an England call-up. However, his time at Southampton was also marked by a significant anterior cruciate ligament injury in 2014, which kept him out for an extended period and ruled him out of the 2014 FIFA World Cup. He gradually returned to fitness, continuing to contribute goals and assists.
West Bromwich Albion Following Southampton's managerial changes and the desire for more regular first-team football, Rodriguez transferred to West Bromwich Albion in 2017. He was a regular starter for the Baggies, featuring prominently in their Premier League campaign and later in the Championship, where he continued to be a consistent goal threat.
Return to Burnley In 2019, Rodriguez rejoined his boyhood club Burnley. He quickly re-established himself as an important member of the squad, providing experience and an attacking option, contributing to their Premier League efforts and subsequent Championship campaigns.
International Career Rodriguez earned his first and only cap for the England national team on 15 November 2013, coming on as a substitute in a friendly against Chile at Wembley Stadium. His international career was significantly impacted by the serious knee injury sustained months later.
Playing Style Rodriguez is known for his work rate, intelligent movement, and ability to score a variety of goals. He possesses good aerial ability, a powerful shot, and the versatility to play across the front line, making him a valuable asset to his teams.
