Definition
Javier Pastore (born 20 June 1989) is an Argentine professional footballer who primarily plays as an attacking midfielder. He has represented clubs in Argentina, Italy, France, Russia, and Italy again, and has been capped by the Argentina national team.
Overview
Born in Córdoba, Argentina, Pastore began his senior career with Club Atlético Boca Juniors, making his professional debut in 2007. His performances earned him a transfer to Italian Serie A side Palermo in 2009. In January 2011, he moved to Paris Saint‑Germain (PSG) for a reported fee of €42 million, becoming one of the most expensive Argentine transfers at that time. While at PSG, Pastor contributed to four Ligue 1 titles (2012–13, 2013–14, 2014–15, 2015–16) and two Coupe de France victories (2014–15, 2015–16).
After a loan spell with Zenit Saint‑Petersburg in 2018, Pastore signed for Parma in August 2019, where he played until 2022 before joining club River Plate on loan, returning briefly to Argentina before moving to US club Club Atlético Belgrano in 2023.
Internationally, Pastore earned 22 caps for the Argentina senior team between 2009 and 2015, scoring one goal. He was part of the squad for the 2010 FIFA World Cup but did not feature prominently in tournament matches.
