Jason Taniguchi is a Canadian writer, actor, and performer based in Toronto, Ontario. He is best known for his one-man science fiction parody shows and his published collection of short stories and poems.
Biography
Taniguchi was born and raised in Toronto, Canada. He graduated from the University of Toronto Schools and later attended Trinity College at the University of Toronto, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in English in 1991.
Career
Taniguchi has worked as both a writer and actor. He wrote for and appeared in the History Television series History Bites. He is particularly known for his one-man science fiction parody shows performed at Ad Astra, a Canadian science fiction convention. For these performances, he received the 2003 Prix Aurora Award in the category "Fan (Other)."
Literary Work
His poems and short fiction are collected in Jason Taniguchi's Very Sensible Stories and Poems for Grown-ups, published by Kelp Queen Press in 2004 (later listed as 2016 in some sources).
The Serial Diners of Toronto
In 1989, Taniguchi founded the Serial Diners of Toronto, a dining club that set out to visit restaurants listed in Toronto's Yellow Pages telephone directory in strict alphabetical order. The group suspended its activities in March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
