He attended Erie Cathedral Prep High School, where he excelled in football and was recognized as a top recruit. Meder played college football at the University of Michigan from 2009 to 2013, appearing in 44 games and recording 100 total tackles, 10.5 sacks, and two forced fumbles. After going undrafted in the 2014 NFL Draft, he signed with the Buffalo Bills as a free agent. Meder spent the 2014 season on the Bills' practice squad before being promoted to the active roster in 2015, where he appeared in 13 games and started three. He later joined the New York Giants in 2018, playing in eight games before being placed on injured reserve. Meder announced his retirement from professional football in 2019.
