James Vernon McClintic (July 12 1878 – March 13 1965) was an American attorney and Democratic politician who served as a United States Representative from Oklahoma’s 2nd congressional district from 1915 to 1919.
Early life and education
- Born in Chisholm, Kansas, to John R. McClintic and Lucinda (Smith) McClintic.
- Attended public schools in Kansas and later moved with his family to Oklahoma Territory.
- Studied law, was admitted to the bar in 1904, and began practicing in Lawton, Oklahoma.
Legal and early political career
- Served as county clerk of Comanche County, Oklahoma (1905‑1909).
- Elected to the Oklahoma State Senate, serving from 1910 to 1914, where he participated in legislative efforts related to infrastructure and education.
U.S. House of Representatives
- Elected to the 64th Congress and re‑elected to the 65th Congress, holding office from March 4 1915 to March 3 1919.
- Served on the Committee on Public Lands and the Committee on Interstate and Foreign Commerce.

- After his congressional service, resumed his legal practice in Oklahoma City.
