James Ryan (Australian politician)

James Ryan (1876 – 1940) was an Australian politician who served as a member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly. He was a Labor Party representative for the Electoral district of Barcoo from 1909 to 1919, and for the Electoral district of Mitchell from 1919 to 1940.

Ryan served as the Queensland Attorney-General from 1915 to 1919 in the Theodore Labor government. A key figure in the Labor movement, he was a strong advocate for workers' rights and social reform. He was also known for his legal expertise and played a significant role in shaping Queensland legislation during his time in office.

Following his retirement from state politics, he remained active in the Labor Party.
