Jake Young (born February 26, 1988) is a former American football center. He played college football for the Iowa Hawkeyes and had brief stints in the National Football League (NFL) with the New Orleans Saints and Kansas City Chiefs.
Early Life and College Career
Born in Dubuque, Iowa, Young attended Wahlert Catholic High School, where he excelled in football. He committed to the University of Iowa, where he played for the Iowa Hawkeyes from 2007 to 2010. During his time at Iowa, Young primarily played as a center, becoming a key component of the team's offensive line. In his senior season in 2010, he was recognized for his performance and was named a first-team All-Big Ten selection.
Professional Career
After going undrafted in the 2011 NFL Draft, Jake Young signed with the New Orleans Saints as an undrafted free agent. He spent the 2011 season on the Saints' practice squad. In 2012, he was signed by the Kansas City Chiefs but was later released during the preseason. Young's professional career did not extend beyond these practice squad and offseason roster opportunities.
