Jack W. Hester

Jack William Hester (June 22 1929 – April 29 1999) was an American farmer and Republican politician who served in the Iowa State Senate from 1979 to 1995.

Early life and education
Hester was born in Modale, Iowa. He graduated from Persia High School in Persia, Iowa, in 1947. During the Korean War he served in the United States Air Force.

Career
After his military service, Hester worked as a farmer and livestock dealer in Honey Creek, Pottawattamie County, Iowa. He entered politics as a member of the Republican Party and was elected to the Iowa Senate in 1978, taking office on January 8 1979. He represented his district until January 8 1995, participating in legislative matters concerning agriculture, rural development, and state governance. Hester was known for his involvement in farm‑related organizations, including leadership roles in the West Pottawattamie Farm Bureau and participation in 4‑H programs.

Personal life
Hester was married to Joan Hester, who also served in the Iowa General Assembly. The couple had six children. He died on April 29 1999 in Honey Creek, Iowa, at the age of 69.

Legacy
