Jack Meléndez

Jack Meléndez, born Héctor Meléndez in Ponce, Puerto Rico, is a Puerto Rican professional wrestling sportscaster, commentator, and promoter. He is widely recognized for his work as the Spanish‑language play‑by‑play announcer for Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA) and as the personal ring announcer for the Latin American Xchange (LAX) stable. Meléndez is bilingual, speaking both Spanish and English, and has held various backstage and creative positions for wrestling promotions in Puerto Rico, Mexico, and the United States.

Early life
Meléndez developed an interest in professional wrestling during his childhood, attending World Wrestling Council (WWC) events with his mother. He later followed the rise of the International Wrestling Association (IWA) in Puerto Rico, which reignited his enthusiasm for the sport.

Career

IWA Puerto Rico – While employed by a magazine publisher in the San Juan metropolitan area, Meléndez secured a position with the IWA, beginning his professional involvement in wrestling promotion and commentary.

Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (2004–2006) – In 2004 Meléndez moved to Nashville, Tennessee, to join TNA as a sportscaster, video editor, and producer. Initially paired with commentator Armando Quintero, he later became the Spanish‑language voice for the LAX stable after Konnan assumed commentary duties. Meléndez’s role included delivering introductions and commentary for LAX, and he occasionally interfered in matches on their behalf. He left TNA in October 2006, citing dissatisfaction with a proposed pay raise and creative differences.

World Wrestling Council (2007) – After a brief return to the IWA as head booker, Meléndez accepted a position with WWC, serving as head booker, television producer, and commentator.

Asistencia Asesoría y Administración (AAA) (2008–2011) – Invited by AAA founder Antonio Peña, Meléndez eventually joined the Mexican promotion as a creative consultant, agent, television producer, and video editor. He worked closely with the Peña family on talent development and storyline planning.

World Wrestling League (2017–2018) – Meléndez facilitated a talent exchange between WWL and The Crash, and served as booker for WWL. The partnership ended following internal disputes and the impact of Hurricanes Irma and María, after which he resumed booking duties for WWL in early 2018.

AAA/WWE (2025) – In 2025, Meléndez was announced as part of the creative team for WWE’s collaborative event with AAA, “Worlds Collide,” marking his second involvement with AAA and his first official role with WWE.

Other contributions
Beyond commentary, Meléndez has been involved in video production, editing, and talent scouting across multiple promotions. His bilingual abilities have enabled him to bridge English‑ and Spanish‑language wrestling audiences, particularly in the United States and Latin America.
