JTR (song)

"JTR" is a song by the American rock group Dave Matthews Band. The track evolved from an earlier song titled "John the Revelator," which was debuted by Dave Matthews and guitarist Tim Reynolds during their 1999 acoustic tour.

The song was recorded in 2000 during the band's studio sessions with producer Steve Lillywhite. These recordings, popularly known as The Lillywhite Sessions, were initially rejected by the band's label and remained unreleased in an official capacity for several years. However, a finished studio version of "JTR" was eventually released on the bonus disc of the limited edition version of the band's 2001 album, Everyday.

Musically, "JTR" is noted for its use of a 7/4 time signature and lyrics that prominently feature themes of rain and references to the biblical figure John of Patmos. The song has been a frequent inclusion in the band's live concert sets and appears on several official live recordings, such as Live at Folsom Field, Boulder, Colorado (2002).
